Floral jeans!

Floral jeans!
Floral jeans are popping up EVERYWHERE these days, and they are the perfect thing to get you into spring. Still warm enough for the cooler days of April. Completely wearable with boots for those showers that bring May's flowers but an easy transition into summer. Still, if you are gonna drape your posterior in posies, I think you better be in the right frame of mind or you could feel silly - or like you're 5. To really work these, just like a real garden, be sure to ground those flowers in simple silhouettes and basic shapes to really make the print pop. For the more adventurous? A clean striped boat-neck top in the same colors as the pants looks really chic, positively French.

Printed shoes for weekend

Printed shoes for weekend
Lets ditch the skinny jeans in favor of some cute cuffed chinos this weekend and add in some killer printed shoes to give em style. For day I'm thinking the chinos with the Nicholas Kirkwood Keith Haring graphic pumps, a tissue thin lipstick red T-shirt and a croc embossed Dooney & Bourke top handled satchel. For cocktails? Switch out to a black & white striped tank, some oh-my-gawd-where-did-you-get-those leopard and leather boots and studded clutch. And as far as I'm concerned, a great leather moto jacket goes with any outfit.

Printed shoes 1 way
Pump up a simple A-line khaki shirt dress for work with a floral print peep toe and sharp clutch and fitted blazer. Or make it Sunday brunch ready with pansy covered wedge espadrilles and a ladylike cardigan.

Spring 2012: Printed shoes!
Let your feet throw the party for your outfit. Spring's printed shoes -- checks, kitsch, animal, punk, floral or graphic -- will liven up any simple (not plain, but "classic") T-shirt and jeans ensemble or a clean cut black-sheath-and-cardi work look. For even more fun coordinate your pedicure in a peep toe platform covered in a Roy Lichtenstein-inspired pop art print. (Don't know who I'm talkin' about? Google it.)

Peplum connection

Peplum connection
The hottest thing right now? A peplum - that little skirt thing on jackets and tops and dresses that showed up all over the runways. How to work it? Best with a slim bottom half and make sure the peplum hits at your natural waist and stops just above the hips. Proportion is everything here ...

Spring print 2012

Spring print 2012
This is the year to go crazy with prints. Mix em, match em, clash em. The trick? Pair large print with a smaller print, a round floral print with a linear stripe or check; prim polka dots with a splashy geometric. Use color and tone and cut to unify into one totally on trend, smashing look. Accessorize with shapes that don't clash like this season's best purse: the foldover tote.

Clutch play
Colorful printed clutches - large and small, plain or embellished -- are great for spring. A truly great clutch can be the centerpiece for a super classic minimalist look or anchor a ladies-who-lunch suit.

Cigarette pants three ways

Cigarette pants three ways
Wear them no less than 3 inches above the ankle. Stove-piped and slim, they can rock a high high heel, this season's kitten heels or pair of cute leopard print brogues. Wear them to work with pumps and a jacket. to the club with killer booties and a graphic T or to cocktails with a silky shirt and metallic t-strap. They work with any bag, but right now I'm lovin a clutch.
